MY HUSBAND REFUSES TO GET HIS SEMEN TESTED. HE SAYS THAT IT IS THICK AND VOLUMINOUS MEANS IT MUST BE NORMAL!
Male fertility can be somewhat delicate as semen consists mainly of seminal fluid, secreted by the seminal vesicles and the prostate. There is no connection between the volume and consistency of the semen with its fertility potential. It is completely depended on the sperm count which can only be assessed by microscopic examination.
MY HUSBANTD’S SPERM COUNT VARIES EVERY TIME WE TEST IT! HOW DO WE DETERMINE WHAT THE “REAL” SPERM COUNT IS?
There are several factors responsible for the varying in the sperm count. It can vary from week to week and can be affected by certain factors like the time between ejaculations, illness, and medications. Such changes in sperm count are common even in a normal or fertile man.
HAVE NO PROBLEMS HAVING SEX SINCE I AM VIRILE, MY SPERM COUNT MUST BE NORMAL.
Even a man with extreme sex drives may have zero sperm count. So, there is no connection between male fertility and virility.
MY SEMAN ANALYSIS REPORT SHOWS I HAVE NO SPERM IN THE SEMEN (AZOOSPERMIA). IS THIS BECAUSE I USE TO MASTURBATE EXCESSIVELY AS A BOY?
Definitely NO. Masturbating is just a normal sexual activity in which most of the men get to indulge. It is just a myth that excessive masturbation affects the sperm count in the semen. You cannot “run” out of sperms, because these are constantly being produced in the testes.
MY WIFE IS FRIGID AND DOES NOT ENJOY HAVING SEX. COULD THIS BE THE REASON FOR HER INFERTILITY?
If fertility is related to how much you enjoy sex than raped women can never get pregnant. There is no connection between sexual pressure and fertility. If your wife is frigid, it can be because you are unskilled in loving her. Thus, you should improve your sexual technique and spend more time in foreplay and pleasuring your wife.
WHAT CAUSES MALE INFERTILITY?
Male infertility can be caused due to many factors including:
- Low Sperm Count
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Ejaculation issues.
- Antibodies that attack sperm
- Low Sex Desire
- Undescended testicles
- Hormone imbalances
- Defects of tubules that transport sperm
- Chromosome defects
- Problems with sexual intercourse
- Industrial chemicals
- Heavy metal exposure
- Radiation or X-rays.
- Overheating the testicles
- Illicit drug use
- Alcohol use.
- Tobacco smoking
- Emotional stress
WHAT IS “TESE” OR “MESA”?
Micro Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (MESA) is a technique in which a urologist in West Delhi obtains sperm from part of the male reproductive tract. MESA is used to treat obstructive problems occurring due to vasectomy, congenital absence of the vas deference, or scarring of the vas deferens.
Whereas if the problem is the testicular failure of azoospermia rather than obstruction, then Testicular Excisional Sperm Extraction is performed. For this method, a small portion of testicle tissue is removed and explored for immature sperm.
WHAT DOES SPERM PREPARATION MEAN?
Sperm preparation is done to improve sperm quality. During the process of sperm preparation, spermatozoa are ejaculated in the seminal fluid during intercourse or masturbation. Then the spermatozoa are extracted from the semen by a series of processes:
- Centrifugal and washing
- Layering, to select the active sperm and leave the dead sperm behind; or
- Selecting the best sperm by making them swim through a denser medium and using those that succeed.
